Friends, Former Associates, and Pokes

Confederate States of America 5th Georgia Regiment (David Shockey) - Civil War ReEnactment is popular in the South,
especially when White House incumbents are not . . .

Tom Biddulph , - Motorola, StarNine, SkyWey, Fine Art Photography ,in black and white , and now in color ...

Rusty Carruth - Arizona State University, an awesome fellow, he's near real-time and embedded.

David Caster - Motorola, SmallTalk, Squeak, Cincom Systems - In less than 10 keystrokes Captain RTFM deleted the entire file system on the main computer. Re-emerging from his tardis as superhero Captain Root, he reinstalled the operating system and restored all our work from backups.

Orren Chapman - Motorola, Wal*Mart - When Orren first came from Maine to work in Arizona, his friends took him tubing down the Verde River. All day, no sunblock. The next day at work, he was purple. We made sure he got sent home until he returned to a proper color.

Cheryl Cobern-Browne , Art Workshops - In Ireland, Workshop Get-Aways!

Star Curtiss - Glendale, Arizona; Springfield, Missouri - former webmaster, part-time artist and caring grandmother.

Fred Fish has left the planet . His old site (Cronus) is history. - Here is his Wikipedia page . Fred is well known world-wide by Amiga enthusiasts for his Amiga share-ware CD-ROM collection. Some of us shared a cube with Fred at Motorola. Fred Fish was a friend to all of us computer geeks and then some. He always had a smile. He is remembered well by his family and by us, too.

Paolo Galtieri - Motorola; when I worked with Paolo, he thought fast, talked fast, drove cars fast and drank plenty of coffee in every form, especially expresso. He was good to have around, especialy when things were difficult or just needed to be lively.

Keith George - Trust and Estate Law - Keith has spent a lifetime helping persons protect their property.

Stephen Graeber - Camp Orizaba, AGSIM (when I lived only a block away) - haven't talked to Steve in ages. No doubt he's living the life now!

Jeff Gong - Motorola, GetNet - Jeff went into business in Phoenix with his brother. His dot-com is one of those that survived, probably because he is dedicated to provide the very best service. Good job, Jeff.

Greg Guerin - Motorola - Greg's a multi-faceted fellow. He likes to play with lasers and knows the computer language Forth from the bottom up. Greg is now a liberated free-lance programmer.

Ross Inglis - Motorola - Last I heard from Ross, he was working here . Don't bother googling for him - would you believe there's a large number of others with the same name? For a while Ross moved back and forth between Arizona and the United Kingdom. We were always glad to see him arrive and sad to see him leave. These days he has had long term employment in the UK.

Storm Johnson - Motorola. He's probably got a Facebook and even a LinkedIn page but no photos and too many Storm Johnsons in the U.S. At Motorola, Storm cleaned up his cube only once that I remember. He had cartoons posted all over it.
Here's a few good photos of the bearded one from the 2004 Geo Adventure trip to Kvanefjeld, Greenland on Cory Waste's web site.

Well, our childhood homes at N. Myrtle Ave & West Laurel Avenue are almost unrecognizable from 1949, but Gary Simonelli's previous abode is unmistakeable.

Bob Lancer - Parenting - I liked Bob from the first meeting. I could tell he relates from his heart, even when he seems otherwise.

Graeme Riddell - Wal-Mart - Graeme is on LinkedIn.com. I met him at Wal*Mart where he was the TOP END expert. Last I heard, and apparently still there, he is a systems Architect at Liberty Mutual in New Hampshire. When I worked with him, he was very sharp and I doubt that has changed since then. If you ever get the chance, hire him. You won't be sorry.

Steven J Rolnick - Steven is a private person, so I won't say much except that he is a fine person. Wish I had his email address.

John Sarkela - Motorola, SmallTalk, Squeak, Parcplace-Digitalk, Cincom Systems and LinkedIn.com . John more than once said that he had wanted either to get his PhD in math or to go to clown school. Well, he didn't.

James T. "Jim" Scoggins - Wal*Mart - Jim offered me a place to stay (I shared expenses) when I was on contract at Wal*Mart. Thanks, Jim. Jim has his career path straight and he's a hard worker. He also likes to take photos. Check out his site.

Ed Skinner - Motorola, (Monte Vista Software?), Green Hills Software, Wind River - I knew Ed at Motorola. I often enjoyed chatting with him. He was hilarious. He had an incredibly large collection of synonyms for an unpleasant subject. I won't say what the subject was.

Rick Smouse - Gold Mind Systems, Motorola, Stratus - Rick is a good friend I met at Gold Mind Systems. He tipped me off to my job at Motorola (Codex at the time) and got a job there as well. Thanks, Rick. He is a chess buff and a much better player than I am. He also runs a chess club with meetings around the Phoenix metro area.

Kevin Strietzel - Motorola, Stratus - Kevin is a good friend and one of those people you like almost immediately. He's humble and modest and has helped me with some mundane tasks while I was out of state on a contract. Thanks, Kevin.

Fred "Woody" Turner, Charlene Turner, Ruth Turner - Years ago, they said they were moving, possibly to South Dakota. I haven't seen or heard from them since. Woody, I would love to hear from you or Charlene. Just send me email: postmaster care of this site.

Charles Wolff - Motorola - The last link I found for Charles (20110405)

Barbara Zinn was an engineer I knew at Motorola. She was among the few engineers with a pilot's licenses. She was reconstructing an antique light plan in her home. While at Motorola, she started a new career with the United States National Park Service (NPS) as a park ranger. She's been there since. Here are links I could find in April, 2011: a document with two photos of Barb around 2002 , a note about exotic tamarisk tree eradication , and a compiment for her..

There are others not mentioned here and out of respect for their privacy, I'm doing so. :-) However, if there's a typo, a mistake, a bad link, or if you want your name on the list (and I know you!) or you want your name off the list, email the webmaster at this site.
